This essence was made on the southern Kenai Peninsula in south-central Alaska over a four-day period during several eruptions of the Mt. Augustine volcano. The beginning of the preparation coincided with the beginning of the visible plume of ash/steam rising from the volcano. Mt. Augustine is an uninhabited island in the Pacific Ocean. It embodies the ancient prehistory and primeval nature of the planet and brings it forward to the present. The eruption is a blending of elements at the most basic level: water and molten rock transforming into ash, lava, and steam. The Augustine Volcano essence helps us release pent up energy and unexpressed emotion in a positive way. It can help us get in touch with what is unresolved inside of us, and then connect with the energy and rhythm to gracefully express this out into our world. The main lesson this essence has to teach us is that it is important to begin to view intense cataclysmic events, such as the eruption of a volcano, as benevolent instruments for positive change. The earth has and will continue to make these strong internal adjustments. If we are able to perceive them in the right way, it will not only make it easier to live through them, but we will also be able to use the amazingly powerful energy that is contained within them to support deep, intense, and positive changes within ourselves. They hold the fresh new energy of potential and are alive with an abundance of elemental energies. On a vibrational level, bogs are special containers for the heart energy of the planet. They also represent freedom, joy, and adventure—the freedom of wilderness, wildness, and wide open spaces. Their healing gift to the human kingdom is to help us create and expand the energetic space for new experiences, and to help us learn what it is like to live with an open heart and a spacious mind. The Bog Essence represents a place of special connection with the Earth mother. The Earth is pregnant with wisdom, potential, fresh energy, and new beginnings, all held in an enormous heart space. This environmental essence was prepared on the Isle of Gigha, off the western coast of Scotland, during our 2006 Practitioner Training Program. The essence was made on a quartz outcropping that rises out of the ocean at the southwest edge of the island like a giant dragon. The outcropping is visible for 100 meters before it sinks beneath the ground. It then runs through the island and emerges at the northwest tip of the island, where it is visible along the beach for a short distance before going back into the sea. This quartz formation embodies a very ancient and sacred energy that has the power to shift our grounding and alignment in very profound ways. It is a crystallization of light, energy, deep wisdom, and knowledge of the ancient secrets of the Earth. It embodies a complete marriage of the elements and represents the strong foundation places of the planet, and the essence made from it can take us to those places in ourselves. The Gigha Quartz essence offers many levels of healing. Primary, it is a grounding essence, encouraging us to become more present in a soft and empowering way. As we become more grounded, the essence can help us build up our inner core strength and discipline so that we can maintain a deeper alignment with the planet. This alignment will then enable us to live our lives with a physical and energetic posture that is more upright, self-contained and authentic, and that leads to a greater expression of our power and creativity. It is an essence for balancing and harmonizing the feminine and masculine energies in men and women and for the conscious empowerment of the inner male, especially where an imbalance exists due to dominant female energy. This essence is helpful in situations where the mother took on the responsibility for all aspects of a child's development because the father was incapable or absent, or because she was unwilling to share this responsibility with the father or relinquish her control over the child in later years. In such cases, the individual must eventually break free of the eclipsing energy of the mother and at the same time learn how to develop his or her own masculine qualities. The Solar Eclipse essence facilitates this process by working with the person to balance their inner masculine/feminine dynamic. It does this by bringing one's focus and awareness to what the inner male requires for healing and balance, and by helping one access the fortifying energy of the Sun. It was made with only rain water from the storm and some water from the local spring. Typhoon is about surrender, trust, and cleansing. It teaches us how to surrender to the cleansing power of nature—a force that is much more powerful than we are—with enough trust to let this energy in without trying to block it in any way, so that it can do its healing work. The message of this essence is, "whatever you don't have anchored with purpose and intent is going to be carried away, so focus on what is important and let the rest go." Typhoon is a very penetrating essence that can work its way into our densest levels of resistance. It can also teach us about intensity—how to work with it in our lives, and how to co-create with it in nature.
