Essence Profile: Billy Goat Plum

This Essence helps to bring about a healthy enjoyment of sexuality. It is used primarily for people with feelings of self-disgust or self-loathing, especially when this is centred on the sexual organs and/or the sexual act. It can assist with the feelings that come with dis-ease such as herpes, venereal warts or vaginal discharge or any venereal disease. It allows one to have awareness of sexuality on a spiritual and emotional level, not just the physical. 

It can be used for rashes, eczema, or psoriasis on any part of the body, provided the disorder elicits a sense of the body being unclean. It has produced very good results when used topically for acne. Billy Goat Plum also addresses shame and embarrassment. 

The positive side to this remedy is that it helps to bring about a real acceptance of the physical body and the ability to enjoy physical sensation and sexual pleasure. To see the beauty of this plant is to understand how it can teach people to see the beauty in themselves and to delight in their physical beings.

A 73-year-old male was diagnosed with cancer of the prostate. His specialist urologist advised him to wait and see. This man was basically healthy except for some indigestion and arthritis. He was a great worrier and he had not ully grieved after the death of his first wife almost 20 years previously - he has since remarried. He had not had a good relationship with his mother and was rather guilty about not resolving this before her death. All his adult life he had felt slightly uncomfortable about anything associated with his sexual life. He described himself as being pessimistic by nature.
