Colour impacts every aspect of our lives. Throughout nature and man made materials we find a splendid array of colour that we can use to promote our own well being, evolve our consciousness and find new meaning in the purpose of our lives. Think of how you feel when you wear a piece of clothing in a favourite colour. Your self- confidence soars, you feel more positive and hopeful, not only for the future but the present as well. You probably notice you tend to draw many good things to you throughout the day, the clothing often being seen as "my lucky shirt" or "every time I wear this violet colored pendant something good always happens to me." This is no accident but a message from the Universe and your higher Self as to the importance of using colour to not only draw better things to ourselves but to also promote a sense of peace and harmony within.

Our Auras and energy bodies are made up of coloured light which forms the basis of what we draw to ourselves in any given lifetime. For example, someone who has predominantly Blue coloured aura may be an excellent communicator, teaching and speaking, writing and channeling may be very strong for this person. The Blue is this person aura actually draws or magnetizes to that person the right opportunities for them to develop and use their talents for the benefit of themselves and others. Colour is a living entity with its own state of consciousness and as we desire to draw others of like mind towards us for support and fulfillment, so too do the colours we surround ourselves with and that are reflected in our aura draw that which is of like mind to them. No colour is better than any other of course and which colour we are born with in our energy fields is actually perfect for us for that given lifetime. Yet we can also use colour creatively in many ways to draw other experiences for greater overall development or to assist us in learning new skills, we are not "stuck" only with the colours we are born with!

I know this may be a question for many people as they read this, how many colours is each person typically born with in their energy field? This really does depend on the person, some very advanced Souls may appear to have rainbows as Auras, even colours that are not known to the Human eye. We may not see these colours yet we can sense that they are there. The average person that I have seen has anywhere from 1 to 3 predominant colours within their aura. One way you can discover for yourself what colours are predominant for you is through Kirlian Photography. This is a means of taking a picture of the aura in full living colour. Often psychic fairs will have such a photographer available or check with your local new age store.

Colours of course are also found throughout the chakras as follows:

    Root = Red/Rose
    Creativity = Orange
    Solar Plexus = Yellow
    Heart = Green
    Thymus Chakra = Turquoise
    Throat = Blue
    Third Eye = Indigo
    Crown = Violet

Other colours such as Gold, Silver, Copper and so forth are found in other Chakras such as those in the hands and feet. I have often seen pink in the chakras of the hands and a clear coppery brown in the chakras of the feet. 

Colour is also used extensively in the study of Feng Shui as well and I strongly encourage those who are so inclined to take up a serious study of the use of Colour enhancements for the Ba-guas.

In regards to the Colour essences, I will give a brief overview of different colours and their use to enhance any aspect of your life focusing mainly on the colours of the main chakras:

Red - this is the colour to use to get stuck energy moving and to assist in clearing negativity. It is also very effective for weight loss as it encourages the person to get up and moving. A dear friend of mine once suggested wearing something Red when I needed to feel motivated or needed to exercise and just didn't have the get up and go to do it. It does work! Among the Chinese Red is also the colour of great good fortune and wealth. I often burn Red candles anointed with an oil of sesame and Red colour essence to draw in more prosperity and success. When used with intent of what is desired, this has worked for me every time. When clearing negative energies I use a black candle anointed with the same oil, this also has proven to be very effective. Red is also the colour of passion and power, it enhances self- confidence and a can do attitude which can make a world of difference. It helps to eliminate procrastination and fear. For those who Have Aries and or Scorpio strong in their natal charts, this is an excellent colour to work with.

Orange - this is the colour of creativity and feelings of well being. Any shade of Orange you find appealing is appropriate to work with. When working on any kind of creative project or feeling a need to find new ways to recreate your life over all, Orange is an excellent colour to work with. It instills feelings of joy and happiness, excitement and a sense of " everything is going in accordance with the Divine plan and timing." Orange can stimulate the appetite yet I have found that it also encourages people to eat foods that are best for them rather than snacking on so called " junk food". I have found that those who enjoy dance often benefit from this colour essence or wearing the colour Orange. Those with the sign Virgo or Venus strong in the chart also benefit from this colour.

Yellow - an excellent colour for depression, low self esteem, asserting one's will and learning how to connect one's will with the will of the Divine. I have heard it said many times and I believe this to be true, that The Divine wants for us what we desire for ourselves and when we work with Yellow we find numerous validations that Spirit does indeed desire for us what we desire in our hearts and is delighted to give us that which we have affirmed is good and true for us. This colour can be so important for balancing the ego, knowing that we are just as valuable as any other person, our gifts and talents are needed in the world, not to bury our "light under a bushel" but to allow it to shine forth so all may benefit from the sharing of ourselves. This is also a wonderful colour/essence to use when seeking greater recognition and success for one's work and efforts, especially when combined with Pineapple Guava Flower essence. We are also empowered to recognize others gifts and talents and to assist them in allowing their own light to shine forth for the benefit of all. Leo and a strong Sun in the natal chart benefit greatly from Yellow.

Green: The colour of spring, of new births and beginnings, of healing, peace and prosperity. Green helps us to slow down just enough so we can fully recognize what we have already been blessed with in our lives which of course in turn opens the door to even greater blessings and fulfillment. It is the colour of a grateful heart, one is grateful for whatever is desired even before it manifests which guarantees the fulfillment of the desire. When we need a new beginning or when we need to see more growth and potential opening up in our lives it is Green that we can turn to. We know that the Universe is giving us the "green light" on something when this colour begins appearing everywhere around us. We may be beetling along down the street and hit every green light. Or a neighbour or friend gifts us with several healthy green plants. We may begin to crave green coloured foods such as Broccoli, Lettuces, or my favourite, Key Lime pie! In whichever form it appears we are being given the go ahead so now is the time to take action! When I desire to have more peace and prosperity over all, when I feel the need for a new beginning in any area of my life, it is this colour essence I turn to most. People with Taurus and Venus strong in the natal chart often benefit greatly from this colour.

Turquoise - This is the colour of healing on the mind, body and soul levels. This colour draws to us master teachers and healers who can help us examine fears and beliefs that may be contributing to dis-ease and imbalance in our lives and then support us as we begin the process of releasing those imbalances. I have also found that the use of this colour essence helps to boost one's intuitive knowing and understanding when working as a healer with the self or others and as such I highly recommend it for all the healing modalities. It is also a colour frequently used in Shamanism as a means of protecting the Shaman as well as calling in one's Totem Spirits. This is a wonderful colour/essence for those with Uranus and or Aquarius strong in the natal chart.

Blue - The colour of expression, of speaking our truth, of communicating both with the Spirit and all other beings throughout the Universe. Blue is the colour of the sky and the saying " The sky's the limit" meaning nothing is impossible for us to achieve when we believe in ourselves and the Love of the Universe. Who has not felt uplifted on a bright sunny morning, the sky a brilliant blue or fallen in love with a deep pool of water, its rich blue colour making us feel at peace and at one with the Universe? Blue soothes and releases stress. It empowers us to make clearer decisions and to gain clarity on our next step in life. What we speak of creates our reality for the very action of our words travelling out through space and time impacts in a very physical way all matter that forms the Universe. As a colour essence, Blue helps us to remember to only speak of that which we desire to experience and to release any spoken negativity that may keep our goals from coming to fruition. It also clears the throat chakra and helps to dispel fear. We feel more empowered to speak our truth and to stand tall in it. This is an excellent essence for issues of Saturn, Capricorn strong in the chart or difficult transits of Saturn. And for those of you who own Saturn Cars, this may be a wonderful essence to mist in and around your vehicle! If any of you try this, please let me know what your results are! Mercury and Gemini people also greatly benefit from this essence.

Indigo - It is no wonder that many of the Children who have been born with great spiritual gifts and talents over the past 30 to 40 years are known as Indigo Children. Indigo is the colour of clairvoyance, the "Sight" or "shining" as one person I met referred to it as. And Indigo people do shine with a very bright light. Indigo is the colour of awareness, of opening the mind to the unseen worlds and realms which are just as valid as anything we can experience in the world of form. As a Colour and essence it assists us in hearing and seeing our Guides, Master Teachers, Angels, Totem Animals and other "unseen" friends who sit patiently by waiting for us to request their support and assistance. It reminds us that we must first ask for help for we have free will and therefore none can interfere with our process unless we ask for it to be so. Truly all will come to our aid if we but ASK! I have also found that this is an excellent essence for those who have Neptune/Pisces strong in the natal chart, it dispels confusion and doubt over our " woo woo" experiences and draws in validation for what we know on spiritual levels. When used in combination with Gem essences or the colour essences Brown, Black or Copper, it also assists in bringing a "dream" or goal into manifested form. 

Violet - This is the colour of faith, of trust in ourselves and the right outworkings of the Universe. I have found this to be an excellent colour for so many things including enlightenment, prosperity, understanding the laws of the Universe, taking a quantum leap forward in any area of our lives, allowing the Divine to step in and right things for us. I have found that when I wear any shade of Violet or use the colour essence that everything in my life just gets better and better. I have such a deep sense of peace and conviction within that I am being guided, supported and loved by all things. This colour tends to raise the vibration of anything it comes into contact with, It is a wonderful essence for misting one's home or office with, your car, pets, children, plants, everything seems to respond very well to this colour. All signs tend to benefit from Violet.

There are many ways to bring more colour into your life and in fact if you desire to have more happening in several areas of your life or your life seems rather drab, then this is an excellent time to start getting creative with colour. Along with the colour essences which can be combined with any other essence or used on their own, you can also try wearing a particular colour that resonates with what you desire. If that colour does not look "good" on you, for example I love the colour Red but I don't like the way it looks on me, so I mist myself with Red colour essence and wear jewelry that has red tones. You can also wear something in your needed colour beneath your clothing or introduce art, flowers, stones and crystals, or pottery in those shades. The two most important things to keep in mind when working with colour is that you have fun with it and you set the intent of what you desire to achieve within your mind. Then every time you see that colour you can affirm that what you have asked for is indeed on its way to you. Likewise if your life seems to overwhelming, too much busyness and not enough peace, try introducing shades of Blue, Indigo and Violet for a time. Then when you are ready to get things moving again, bring on the reds, oranges and yellows with a dash of green for controlled but steady growth and new beginnings. Above all experiment and see what colours do the most for you. Play with the wide range that is available and keep a note book or journal detailing your experiences with colour. You may well find that the colours you choose add much more to your life than you ever dreamed possible!
