Introduction to Pacific Flower Essences

What is a Flower Essence?

It is the energetic imprint of the life force of a particular plant. The carrier substance is water, the universal solvent, with a proportionate amount of brandy which acts as a preservative.

Although all flower essences tend to look and smell the same, they all have different ways of interacting with the human body, mind, emotions and spirit.

Flower essence therapy was first developed in the Western world in the 1920s by Edward Bach, a British physician and homeopath. When he began his search for a holistic medicine he was convinced of two things:

1. The human body had the innate ability to heal itself, so he was looking for something that would activate this natural process.

2. Medicine should above all do no harm, which of course is part of the Hippocratic oath by which all physicians swear when they become doctors.

Bach’s 38 flower remedies have circulated the globe since then, and his methodology both for making the essence and for collecting research data has been duplicated by many other flower essence producers around the world.

By 1983 a morphogenic field around flower essences had been created. This is when six or seven developers from around the world, including Pacific Essences, began to publish information about the properties and gifts of flowers other than the 38 originally discovered by Bach.
